The Winter Tempest is considered to be the best weapon in the game by some. It bypasses the shields completely, going straight for the armor to destroy ships of any size within seconds. The weapon also ionizes slightly, although this hardly matters considering most ships are destroyed by the time the ionization is noticeable.
The main disadvantage of the Winter Tempest is the pace at which it drains energy: it uses up energy almost as quickly as it destroys opposing ships.
Although tricky, this weapon is useful for capturing ships. Disabling ships with this weapon alone will leave the shields at full capacity after you have boarded it and are trying to make your getaway from hostile ships.

"Winter Tempest is a name spoken in dark corners by the Vell-os people. The storm-colored arc of light has only once been used in anger. Even then it took a T1 working at focusing the power of twenty T2's to get it to work. It has been theorized by Vell-os scientists that a T0 would have the potential to create this beam by himself."
The feared Winter Tempest is the most powerful of the Vell-os psychic weapons.
This weapon is granted upon Invading Polaris Space and should never leave you there-after.
