Gunboats are light warships designed for patrol duty. They are larger than fighters but smaller and faster than destroyers. They tend to pack a decent punch for their relatively small size, and can be well upgraded.

Notable gunboats include the Federation Patrol Boat, the Abomination, and the Striker. Other gunboats are: the Valkyrie, Pirate Valkyrie, Lightning, and Vell-os Arrow.
