Stellar Grenades are analagous to the floating mines employed in ancient maritime warfare. The basic concept is to launch an unpowered, unguided explosive device that will detonate when it is contacted by a ship (ideally by an enemy ship, but grenades are not choosy). These weapons can only be deployed by ships equipped with a stellar grenade launcher.

Stellar Grenades are clumsy to use and generally do little damage over a period of time, making them generally passed up for other weapons. However, they are light, cheap, and strong enough to take out most Vipers in a single blast.

Though in the engine they are considered to be rockets, they act more like weapons with freefall bomb behavior. Consequently, the A.I, if given Stellar Grenades through a plug-in, will almost never use them.
