T-Ratings

As the player progresses through the Vell-os string, he or she gradually becomes a stronger and stronger telepath. The level of his or her mental abilities is indicated by a Telepath rating, or T-rating for short. Normal humans are T6, and the scale continues with increasing mental abilities up to T1, and even to the fabled T0. The player's T-rating is indicated in the game by the use of ranks, but the associated abilities are given to the player by means of an invisible outfit granted at the same time. The effects of each T-rating outfit may be seen below.

Each T-rating gives an increasing addition to shields and shield recharge rate; later T-ratings give units of energy and an auto-recharger, as well as other abilities which can be either similar to normal outfits or unique to the Vell-os.

In the Polaris string the player is granted a T2 rank late within the string. The player is not notified of this and does not gain the other abilities associated with the T2 rank, such as the Arrow.
